Eating Disorders

This is a much under talked about area that many people, particularly women, find themselves trapped within.

There is often a deep seated emotional reason to want to eat that is then countered with a need to remain slim  and “acceptable”. Guilt, anxiety and sometimes depression are often the result that again feed the emotional need to eat. Establishing ways and means to break this cycle is key to success.

We have successful experience in helping those suffering with:

¨ Binging

¨ Food Obsessions & Compulsions

¨ Bulimia & Anorexia

You can be assured of an understanding and professional response from the therapist when you call.

Confidence & Self-Esteem

“Can I handle this?” That’s the question that we ask ourselves internally when we find ourselves in an unfamiliar, stressful, or rarely “practiced” situation. If the answer that comes back is “no” we will react accordingly often feeling nervous or anxious. When this occurs often, we may be tempted to say that we have a “lack of confidence”.

Having a lack of confidence can often be linked to a low opinion of ourselves, our capabilities and worth. Sometimes it is localised to specific triggers, often it is wide spread throughout our lives. It can lead to the development of self-abusive coping mechanisms, fears, phobias, and long-term depression.

Gaining confidence is often about changing ones beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. Beliefs that we have constructed throughout our lives, influenced by others around us, particularly figures of authority such as parents, teachers and employers. Not all belief are useful, some may restrict or ability to “handle this”.

This is an area of specific interest and experience for me. Call me now to discuss how we can work together to move your life on.

Trauma & PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)

PTSD can start after any event where we are in danger, our life is threatened, or where we see other people dying or being injured. I have experience in helping people who are experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties as a consequence of:

¨ serious road accidents

¨ violent personal assault (sexual assault, physical attack, abuse, robbery, mugging)

¨ being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness

If you are experiencing “flash backs”, irrational fear, coping by “avoiding or numbing” past memories via over indulgence in work, alcohol etc. or feeling “on guard” at all times I am able to help you. You don't have to suffer. Call me now.
